Dev

Dev, short for developer, in memecoins simply means the person who created the token. On a launchpad they do not need to code: entering a name and ticker and uploading an image is enough. The wallet that created the token is called the dev wallet or deployer and is visible in an explorer.

The market tracks that wallet for several reasons. It shows how much supply the creator bought at launch, whether they have already sold (“dev sold”) and whether they created tokens before that were quickly abandoned. If the dev kept contract authorities such as mint or freeze authority, they can change the rules on their own. Devs also sometimes buy from many wallets so their share stays hidden.
