Market cap
Also: MC, mcap, market capitalization
Market cap, or MC, is market capitalization: the token's current price multiplied by the number of tokens in circulation. If a token costs 0.001 dollars and a billion are circulating, the market cap is one million dollars. In memecoins it is the main measure of size, hence phrases like “I got in at 100k MC”.
The most common mistake is treating market cap as money someone paid in or money that could be withdrawn. The price comes from the latest trade in the pool, often a small one. If many holders tried to sell at once, they would get far less than the MC suggests, because liquidity is the limit. Market cap is also easy to inflate when little of the supply trades and the rest sits with a few wallets.
